Dr. Hawley grew up in northern Michigan. She went to Traverse City High School, after high school she attended Alma College. At Alma College she received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry and Spanish. She graduated with honors. After college she went to dental school at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she received training in all aspects of general dentistry and graduated fifth out of eighty-three people in 1993!
After dental school she did a post graduate program for one year at the University of Michigan. The focus of the program was in endodontics, pediatrics, oral surgery, implants, prostodontics and periodontics. Continuing to learn is a central part of her personality. Some of the many courses she has taken over the years are: Diagnosis Treatment of Masticatory System Problems; Equilibration Diagnosis Treatment of Occlusal Problems and The Concept of Complete Dentistry. Dr Hawley is licensed by the Dental Board of Michigan and is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association and the American Orthodontic Society.
